Milestone Blood Today

MILESTONE BLOOD TODAY

The Butterfield Herd of Roger Mabry in AR has a large influence from the "Milestone" crosses with the "Beacon Bas" and "Sleeper" bloodlines.   After a recent type appraisal, Roger's herd had over 100 "Excellent" cows within a milking herd of 200.   A major influence is JFD Reward, who is linebred to Beacon Bas Patience, sired by grandson "Title" and from an "Empire" daughter.

Vernon County WI breeders have made extensive use of Gil Bar Unique Sparkler who sires that tall, open-frame look fairly consistently, as well as the slower maturity pattern of the "Sleeper"s, (His paternal grandisre is Marlu Fanfare Snowlad, a "Fanfare" son from the "Milady" family.).   The "Favor" family as developed in that area by Ben Buskohl of Les Serrettes Jerseys and Stu Johnson of Ravenwood Jerseys is linebred to old "Milestone" and has crossed well against "Sparkler"

mgdam: LSJ Bright Favor (by "Bright Spot")

Last but not least, it is important to remember Milestones Generator, a "Milestone" x "Beacon Bas" bull bred at Mayfield's, proven by Cedarcrest, and sold to ABS who made extensive use of this sire as one of the top production bulls of his day.   He shows up in pedigrees occasionally through a son (WF Generator Justin, Generator HL Earl) but frequently through leading daughters, such as Generator's Imp, the dam of Favorite Saint, and Generators Faustine of Ogston, the dam of A Nine Top Brass.   His most important and more recent downline comes as the sire of Highland Generator O Delores, who is dam of Highland Magic Duncan.
