IS MARTHA'S SON THE BEST RENAISSANCE?

114JE 010   MORDALE REN RAPTOR

(Available in Canada from his breeder, Gregg Mortson)

Pleasant Nook J Imp Martha (Supreme EX) took awhile to get the attention she deserved outside of Canada, due to something she could not control-- her maternal grandsire.     Let's face it, while JS Quicksilver Royal was a big success in New Zealand and Canada, he was not always so in the USA, and if not for his son, Comfort Royal Alf, would be mostly forgotten here.

But he made some good cows in Canada, where they had the depth of hoof and flatness of bone to cover for his problems there.    Then, when you mated them to Meadowlawn J Imperial, you could fix the other issues with front (wide) and rear (tipped in) teat placement pretty easily.   "Martha" is the most successful result of that pedigree progression.

Remember Pleasant Nook Regal Madison (EX) who made the 2000+ pound butterfat national record for Piedmont Jerseys in Quebec?    That cow is a daughter of "Martha"-- thus a maternal sister to the "Raptor" bull.     But she is not the only good daughter of "Martha".    She maintains the J Imperial tradition of being a long-lifetime brood cow and has earned multiple "stars".

"RAPTOR" so far is viewed more favorably by Canadian than USA type appraisers-- in the winter of 2007 "Raptor" was showing an 89% Good Plus or better type rating on his daughters north of the border.

Compared to the typical son of "Renaissance", we see more substance and strength of bone in the "Raptor" offspring.
