OVERLOOKED BEST SON OF "SPARKLING FAVOUR" 179JE 024 RAVENWOOD FAVORS REQUEST aAa 6-5-4-3-1-2 Semen price $12 (limited supply)
Semen also available in Canada thru GenCor consignment program Ravenwood Sparkling Favour (EX94%) first entered the limelight by winning the World Dairy Expo Jersey (3 yr old) Futurity, when still under the ownership of her breeder, Stuart Johnson of WI. After WDE she was purchased by Piedmont Jerseys of Quebec, and two years later was the Grand Champion cow at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. She made back to back 1100 lb butterfat records for Piedmont, with only 56 dry days between calvings, and produced a son ("Socrates") that became popular within Alta Genetics' specialty Jersey sire program. Stuart Johnson has an exhaustive pedigree background in and perfect recall of Jersey pedigrees and is able to describe in detail many famous animals that have had impact on the breed. His purchase of the dam of "Sparkling Favour" (from Ben Buskohl of Cashton WI) as a yearling heifer was made in his appreciation for a solid cow family (Ben called them his "Fashions") and his recognition of their unique combination of type, high milk solids, and longevity. "Request" was the first bull Stuart kept from this family, and has met all his expectations, as a bull who sires near-perfect mammary systems (+6.84 on the new JUI April 2008) and produces a blend of what people appreciate from "Remake" and "Sparkler".
(Also check out Ravenwood J Favor Sparkler -- a full brother to the "Sparkling Favour" cow)

DUNCAN BELLE AND SILVER B JO ON TOP: SPARKLER IN THE MIDDLE: B JO ON THE BOTTOM "Request" is a son of ROCK ELLA REMAKE who is the oldest Canadian born son of Duncan Belle (EX92% USA, EX-3 Canada) and, often overlooked, the result of Lorne Ella's desire to combine in one pedigree his two favorite cow lines at the time-- Duncan Belle and Curtsey Duncan Julie. (The sire of Remake is Curtsey King James, a "J Imperial" son of Valleystream Title June, and thus a brother to Loren's "Julie" cow.) "Sparkling Favour", dam of "Request", is an exceptional daughter of the Gil-Bar Unique Sparkler sire who transformed Jersey breeding around Vernon County WI, and in his later years became sought after as a source of "uphill" cows with open, flat-boned frames and soft udder texture that could show and offered outcross vigor in matings to more modern pedigree sires. "Sparkler" is a bit of old "Sleeper" breeding, a bit of old "Milady" breeding, and comes from a Barlass foundation cow line. Next dam, Juno Bright Favor (EX90%) (110,000m lifetime) is sired by Valleystream JIS Juno, the oldest saved son of Valleystream Title June (dam of "King James") who was the oldest daughter of Valleystream Silver B Jo (Supreme EX) and figures in a now eight generation run of EX Jerseys in maternal line. "JO" did a great deal to bring attention to her sire "Silver Beacon". (Keep in mind that "Juno" and his contemporary Semex sire "J Imperial" were both sons of Jodys Imperial Surville, so "Request" is a highly linebred bull reflecting Stuart's knowledge of Jersey bloodlines.) Next dam, Les Serrettes Bright Favor (EX91%) actually produced three or maybe four EX Juno's in her 140,000m lifetime, under the ownership of Ben Buskohl, who bred a lot of exceptional cows from a 28 stall barn in his career as an expatriate Iowa farm boy in Vernon County WI. Next dam was Ben's signature cow, Cel-Mast Fashion of Les Serrettes, EX92% with over 160,000m lifetime production. She was a granddaughter of one of Ben's foundation cows, Manitou Chief Fashion, EX92%, 178,000m lifetime, a Walebe-bred cow from Pixys Farm breeding.
